Introduction

The Whirlpool Cabrio Steam WED7800XL is a member of the Whirlpool Cabrio line of appliances that also includes the 8800 model, which we've already tested. The 7800 machine, despite being cheaper, actually offered better drying performance overall, which makes it that much more disappointing that it's being discontinued. It originally retailed with an MSRP of about $917, so if you can track one down on clearance, expect to get a pretty good deal. We couldn't find it anywhere online, but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there waiting to be purchased. Just because it's not on the computer doesn't mean it's completely unavailable. If Sherlock Holmes could find infamous criminals without an Android or an iPad, then a mere dryer shouldn't prove too difficult to locate for a consumer with some tenacity and a phone book. Despite the limited extra features, it's rare to find a dryer this good with steam capabilities for that low of a price tag, so it may be worth putting on your deerstalker cap and going on the hunt for one.
